Marriage is what brings us together today

There’s been a lot of talk lately about gay marriage and whether or not it should be allowed. Most people here at my university are for gay marriage, that is, are voting no on one. Sometimes, however, you will see someone wearing a yellow “yes on one” pin or walk by a door with a yellow sign bearing the slogan, “protect Maine marriage.” I try not to let it bother me but it does. I always feel so empty when I meet someone that could is for taking away rights. I walked into a dorm once wearing a “No On One” pin and looked at the opposite wall and saw a yellow poster “Yes On One.” There’s no way to explain the feeling of jarring alienation. Discrimination is effing awesome, isn’t it?
